Announcing the development, the Executive Director of LSD Initiative, Engr. Winner Vidiyeno Matahula, said the safety and wellbeing of athletes is a priority for the organization, which is committed to working in line with the mission of the Olympic Charter - to make sport safe and protect athletes from all forms of harassment and abuse.
According to him, it is the right of every child to be safe during sport, and the organization's responsibility to protect her young athletes.
“We are very excited to be part of this wonderful initiative. As a nonprofit working directly with children, this partnership will further boost our impetus and commitment to ensuring safe and abuse-free sporting experience for our young participants," he said.
The LSD Initiative expects to work with the coalition in areas involving implementation of various components of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport, a free resource designed to guide organisations on safeguarding young people in sport, as well as advocating for children's safety in sports entirely.
